Department Overview
The Unconstrained Fixed Income team are a small highly experienced team of portfolio fund managers who principally look at the portfolio 'overlay' strategies. The team is responsible for the management of the multi-award winning unconstrained fund, the Nomura Global Dynamic Bond Fund (GDBF), launched in 2015 by the principle Lead Fund Manager. The objective of the fund is to deliver both income and capital returns across all economic and asset cycles that meet the reasonable expectations of our global investors.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and implementing investment decisions based on macro analysis.
- Contribute to discussions around cash, FX and interest rate/inflation hedging.
- A good understanding of the market volatility and Embedded risks held across a complex multi-asset fund.
- Adopts an active Absolute/Total Return management style, with experience of planning and executing portfolio rotations.
Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience in the understanding of all derivatives especially option theory and pricing together with extensive practical experience in dynamically managing these strategies across all Fixed Income, FX, equity and commodities preferably in a hedge fund role and/or capacity.
- A very good understanding of global macro, politics and economics.
- A good working knowledge of Emerging Market & Frontier economies and debt, both corporate and sovereign.
- A good understanding of both corporate and financial credit markets
