The Role
Working within our long established and growing Energy and Sustainability Team, we are looking to recruit an EV specialist with a minimum of one year's experience in the field. We require a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is ambitious.
The successful candidate must have experience with undertaking feasibility studies for EV infrastructure installs and must be able to provide strategic advice. They must be able to demonstrate that they have capabilities to assist with financial/data analysis of charging infrastructure. They must have a strong understanding of government policy and a technical understanding of different charger options with consideration given to both hardware and software applications.
The successful candidate will join an established team with experience in the electricity and heat markets. The role will encompass a diverse spectrum of work. The successful candidate will need to interface with specialists in the areas of GIS/site finding, contract negotiations, engineering design and sustainability.
This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of one of the UK's largest Energy & Sustainability consultancies.
The role is reporting to our Perth (Scotland) office, but will require flexibility to work remotely; from home, client offices and on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting on behalf of a range of clients (private clients, developers, operators) to ensure that the right investment into EV charging infrastructure is undertaken
- Feasibility studies for installing EV chargers
- Manage/support tendering of sites to EV charger installers
- Managing/supporting tendering of sites to EV charger developers and negotiating Heads of Terms
- Strategic advice to large scale developments
- Managing the process of identifying and securing grid capacity
- Building strong relationships with clients and reporting to them professionally
- Contributing in developing the business through networking to build up close relationships with existing and new clients and their professional advisors
- Analysis on operating budgets of energy systems (including IRR and NPV outputs)
- Produce option analysis or feasibility reports for a range of technologies and scales
- Work with Savills engineering design consultants to ensure that installs are completed correctly and that correct O&M and billing systems are put in place.
- Policy analysis and research of key technologies/sectors
Key Skills
- At least one year's experience but ideally two in the electric vehicle charger sector
- Be adept at report writing and analysing both technical feasibility and financial viability
- Must be comfortable with basic physics principles and mathematics (further education in these subjects are not required)
- A willingness to undertake business development and to grow the new EV service offering
- Good negotiating skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively, being articulate both orally and in writing to clients and colleagues
- Ability to build rapport with a variety of people from different backgrounds
- Exercise confidentiality and discretion at all times
- Excellent client care skills and the ability to prioritise work
- The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure deadlines are met
- A high standard of written English and numerical skills
- Entrepreneurial attitude and ability to consider commercial aspects of a project
- Ability to present and communicate information and analysis in a logical and engaging way
- Good communication skills and be a team player
- Flexible worker - willing to travel
