Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Teaching Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder to provide individualized support and ensure a positive learning experience. Your role will be instrumental in helping these students succeed academically and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support: Provide one-on-one or group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorderduring lessons, ensuring they can engage in learning activities and participateeffectively.

Behavioural Support:Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and techniques to promote positive behaviours and reduce challenging behaviours among students with ASD.

Visual Supports: Create and use visual supports, such as schedules, social stories, and visual cues, to aid communication and facilitateunderstanding for students with ASD.

Sensory Support: Help students manage sensory sensitivities by creating sensory-friendly environments and providing sensory tools and strategies.

Communication Support: Support students in developing communication skills, including using alternative communication systems like picture exchange systems or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.

Individualized Learning: Collaborate with teachers to adapt and modify curriculum materials and teaching methods to meet the unique needs of students with ASD.

Social Skills Development:Facilitate social skills training and social interaction opportunities for students to improve their social communication and peer relationships.

Requirements:

Enhanced DBS Certificate on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.

Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder is preferred.

Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and interventions is a plus.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with ASD.

Salary: Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. Relevant training and experience in autism support may be considered.
