Our client a leader in the mining industry are looking to recruit a number of miners and lead miners for their North Yorkshire Site.
Miners will operate mining machinery, construct and build forms, and complete concrete work. They will select materials, components and equipment for the shaft sinking operations. A miner will be involved in slinging/rigging and signalling the movement of shaft loads. They will prepare for and install shaft services, prepare and operate drill and blasting equipment, blow out shot holes and assist with charging and blasting operations. They will operate and maintain spoil removal equipment, dismantling and removing plant and equipment required for shaft sinking activities. They will prepare for and install temporary ground supports, including sprayed concrete support when required. Duties also include pumping and disposal of ground water. A miner will continually monitor the shaft environment.
In particular, the Miner will:
Operate safely within the shaft environment
Extending shaft services such as wall brackets, cables, pipes and ventilation ductings
Apply concrete support and grout
Install and operate spoil removal equipment
Excavate shaft profile to the design dimension and alignment standard
Prepare plant and equipment for operational performance
Operate Shaft Sinking Plant and Machinery to excavate and load
Arrange and secure loads to travel the shaft environment safely
Drill Shot holes in accordance with the blast design
Receive and handle explosives
Maintain a safe clean working environment, with plant and equipment suitably stored (good housekeeping)
Understand and implement the Companys safety policy
Ensure accident and near-miss reporting procedures are understood and complied with, and assist with accident investigations as required;
Be aware of the permit system and comply at all times;
Immediately stop any operation or work that in your opinion needs to be stopped on grounds of safety and report the matter to the supervisor
Required - proven experience of working in a mining or tunnelling environment and able to provide certs and competencies of this.
You will need to pass a safety critical medical for this position and there may be other restrictions due to Health and Safety
Candidates must have RTW in the UK or a British Passport
Please note these roles are currently on the following shift pattern with an impending change from the 1st May. Currently it is 7 days on 3 days off, 7 nights on 4 off.
From the 1st May, the pattern will operate on the following rotation:
- 9-day shifts - 07:00 to 16:30 9.5 hours
- 2 off must be taken as rest days to comply with UK legislation (Working Time Directive)
- 9 evening shifts - 15:00 to 00:30 9.5 hours
- 2 off must be taken as rest days to comply with UK legislation (Working Time Directive)
- 9-night shifts - 23:00 to 08:30 9.5 hours
- 14 off (including 3 rostered holidays)
