About the company:
One of the UK leaders in manufacturing a wide range of textile products for a variety of customers in the aviation interiors sector, is seeking an experienced sewing machinist to join their already strong team.
About the role:
* Use a twin needle machine and an overlocker machine to operate an industrial sewing machine at all phases of the manufacturing or repair process.
* Be able to clearly follow directions and pay close attention to details.
* Changing machine settings to get the correct sewing pitch as instructed is your responsibility.
* In charge of ensuring that the finished work matches the pattern or samples and is of excellent quality.
* Performing routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning and oiling them.
* Work in the workplace in accordance with the 5S requirements.
* Adhere to the company's health and safety policies.
* Assist with the smooth operation of the area by doing other responsibilities as needed.
About YOU:
* Basic IT skills, literacy, and numeracy
* Good communication skills - our business language is English, and verbal and written communications must be understood
* Sewing machine experience of at least two years.
* Reading and interpreting documentation such as drawings, safety standards, operating instructions, and procedures.
* Problem-solving and analysis skills.
* Self-motivated and capable of working both in groups and independently
* Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous process improvement is preferred.
* Previous employee training under Part 21 or Part 145
* Hours: Monday Friday Monday to Thursday 8am 5pm. Friday 8am 2pm (40 hour week)
