FOR SALE - £9250 ONO - SADDLEWORTH, GREATER MANCHESTER
After some back and forth it’s finally time to let go of my capri. I’ve owned this car for 8 years and almost every part has been replaced in that time. It started out as a 1.6 laser but now has a 2ltr.
3 years ago the car began a light restoration. All rust was cut out or treated, including a full sunroof repair, and the car sprayed in the 3.0s graphite grey (Originally stratos silver). Martin at Capri gear oversaw the engine swap and brake upgrade amongst a number of other jobs (can provide a list of work).
Engine specs;
- 2 litre pinto
- 38 DGAS weber carb
- Burton ultimate road cam KCGTS1
- Head polished/ported/skimmed.
- Block skimmed and bored out fitted with Mahle high compression pistons
- Crank balanced and ground with high quality bearings.
- Highflow Oil Pump developed by Redline
- Lightened and balanced flywheel. (around 6kg flywheel)
- Bestek electronic ignition
- 4-2-1 Manifold & sportex exhaust
I had it on a rolling road last year and was close to 150bhp, the engine is very strong and runs great, it’s taken me from London to Manchester and happily sits in traffic and never gets hot.
Other specs;
- Gaz adjustable shocks on the rear
- 2.8 springs on the front
- 2.8 vented discs, pads and braided hoses
- Single leaf springs
- Polybushed all round
- Freshly refurbished brake servo
- Rear drums recently serviced
- Carla grey check interior
- 15 x 8 RSJ 4 spoke alloys, custom powder coat silver.
- Proxes TR1s all round
With this said the car is in very good condition but it does have some issues that I'd like to be honest about. Most of them being cosmetic.
Bad bits;
- Some areas of the bodywork are showing blisters. All of them are cosmetic and very localised, most likely areas that were missed during the resto but have now come through at a later date (please study photos to see). With this said the car is very solid as can be seen through MOT history. It’s been treated all its life and I've had it undersealed each winter.
- Passenger side door has a couple of dents, both happening very recently and I have been in two minds about getting it repaired but (one from a careless friend and another from a trolley). I’ve had quotes from a dent specialist for £150-£250.
- Dash is cracked in the usual place, had it repaired but has now cracked again due to the recent hot weather.
- Small paint cracks on rear arches. I had them rolled to fit the 15x8 wheels as they would rub with passengers, however the paint has begun to crack, okay for now but would need looking at before winter.
With this said, overall the car looks incredible. The paintwork and interior combo is stunning and I get stopped by people every 5 minutes when I'm out in it. The car runs and drives beautifully and I'd be confident to hop in and do 500 miles tomorrow. I’ve spent thousands on it but I’ve priced it to sell as I want someone to get some real joy out of it.
It wouldn’t take much for the car to be a minter, but it’s also a genuinely useable fast ford that you can actually enjoy. Use as is or drop on some twin 45's and have a proper weekend toy...
I now live and work mainly in central London and with ULEZ/other life commitments it needs more TLC than I can give now.
