Pastoral Officer for Special Educational Needs School in Oldham

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Officer to join our supportive team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing pastoral care, emotional support, and guidance to our students, helping to promote their social, emotional, and mental well-being.
Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester
Key Responsibilities:
Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, offering a compassionate and empathetic approach to address their individual needs and concerns.
Build positive and trusting relationships with students, acting as a supportive and approachable figure within the school community.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to identify and address any social, emotional, or behavioural issues affecting students' well-being and learning.
Develop and implement effective strategies and interventions to support students with emotional regulation, social skills development, and conflict resolution.
Monitor and assess students' well-being and emotional health, providing early intervention and support where necessary.
Coordinate and facilitate group sessions, workshops, and activities focused on promoting positive mental health, resilience, and well-being among students.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to provide regular updates on students' progress, well-being, and any relevant concerns.
Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to pastoral support, interventions, and student progress, ensuring confidentiality and data protection protocols are adhered to.
Requirements:
Previous experience working in a pastoral or student support role within a school or educational setting.
A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a commitment to promoting their social, emotional, and mental well-being.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to challenging and sensitive situations.
Knowledge of relevant safeguarding policies, procedures, and legislation, with a commitment to promoting a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Empathy, patience, and resilience in working with students who may have complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Relevant qualifications in counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field would be advantageous.
Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance, or willingness to undergo DBS checks.
