Teacher of Humanities

GSL Education is seeking a Humanities Teacher for an Alternative Provision(SEMH School) in Hull. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive and dedicated team of staff, providing high quality education to children and young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The role is to Teach Humanities, and potentially cover some English & Food Tech.
About the School
Many pupils at the School are helped to develop their holistic needs when they may have struggled to succeed in another school.
The School have a maximum of 55 Students, and only provide KS3 & KS4.
Many of their students have more challenging & complex background, with a rigorous and academic education which challenges them, not only academically, but also in the terms of their place in society.
Some of these students have been permanently excluded from Mainstream School
The School aims to aims to help young people strive to develop positive behaviours and constructive attitudes and to overcome barriers to learning.About the Job Role
Working with a small number of students with neurodiverse needs to provide a person-centred and personalised curriculum, predominantly following KS3 & KS4
To plan, mark & deliver Humanities to KS3 & KS4.
To enhance the social, emotional, and academic skills of the young people you are teaching.
To cover some English & Food Tech lessons as well as Humanities
To work in partnership with a number of Teaching Assistants and the Senior Leaders
SEN Teacher Requirements:
Hold a UK recognised Teaching Qualifications such as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Cert Ed, BA Honours Degree with QTS or QTLS.
At least 6 months experience working with young people with additional needs or behavioural challenges.
Experience creating personalised curriculums and learning plans.
Knowledgeable about behaviours linked to a range of additional needs including trauma, social, emotional, and mental health needs, ADHD, and Autism.
