Head of Water Strategy

Based from Walsall and/or Cambridge

Salary dependent on experience

At South Staffs Water, we are committed to providing a high quality and reliable water supply to customers now and in the future. We aim to achieve this in a way that is the most affordable and takes into consideration any environmental pressures on our resources. This requires a lot of planning and every five years we prepare a Water Resources Management Plan, which sets out in detail how we plan to achieve this goal over the following 25 years. We are currently looking for a Head of Water Strategy who will be responsible for developing and delivering to that plan.

Reporting to the Strategy & Regulation Director, you will be responsible for the management of key stakeholder relationships, an internal team and external suppliers associated with the continued development and delivery of the WRMP and associated documents. This is a key strategic role with interactions at Company Board level and with Regulatory Stakeholders.

Responsibilities include;

Providing overall guidance and strategy for managing supply & demand balance including demand management and water efficiency
Prepare regulatory submissions including Water Resources Plan, Annual Update, Drought Contingency Plan, Regulatory returns
Promote improvements in demand forecasting including consumption monitoring methodologies
Liaison with the Environment Agency and neighbouring water companies at a strategic level
Management and negotiation of abstraction licences and discharge consents, ensuring compliance
Support the Development of strategies for minimise the cost of water production
Management and development of team of direct reports and external suppliers
Production and management of the Water Resources budget

You will be educated to Degree level in a relevant subject with at least 5 years post qualification work experience at a senior level and will have proven people, project and topic experience. A current valid driving licence is required.
