We are currently seeking Senior Commercial Managers to provide Commercial leadership here at DE&S and SDA. As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will work on a huge variety of vitally important programmes that will ensure that people entrusted with the defence of the nation have the tools and equipment to do so.
Some attendance to the stated site may be required for this position. When in office, youll be based in MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol. However, you will benefit from significant flexible working options in line with our Smarter Working policy, enabling you to balance home and work responsibilities.
Please note, due to the nature of the work some posts are Reserved (open to UK Nationals only) and the successful candidate will be required to attain DV (Developed Vetting) clearance once in post.

Responsibilities
* Advising senior team on acquisition strategies for procurements in accordance with public procurement regulations and Government policy. Requirement to determine and enact strategies within own delegation limits.
* Managing major competitive or single source procurements, including the development of commercial models and approaches.
* Leading development and delivery of complex Invitations to Tender, negotiations and contracts requiring non-standard/bespoke conditions.
* Negotiating terms and pricing, placing and subsequently managing contracts and contract amendments up to a maximum delegation of £100M in accordance with the Ministry of Defence policy.
* Conducting assurance and due diligence of Commercial activity within own area of responsibility by adhering to Commercial policy. Participating in Peer Reviews across the business as required.
* Lead contractor performance management assessments to enable effective delivery of the requirement.
* Leading a team of commercial practitioners, overseeing and supervising delivery of teams commercial outputs and responsibility for multiple teams providing coaching, mentoring and development.
* Communicating in a timely manner with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Senior Leadership, suppliers and Subject Matter Experts.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, youll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
* Experience of managing Sourcing and/or Contract Management activities on a large scale on more complex or high-risk projects and programmes.
* Experience in leading and managing professional teams.
If not already held, if successful you will be supported to undertake the following:
* CIPS Level 6/Chartered Status or Equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this by commencing study within one year of appointment. This will be funded and supported by DE&S / SDA.
* Attend Government Commercial Function Assessment & Development Centre prior to Interview
Please note Assessment and Development Centre attendance is a mandated element of this recruitment campaign and all slots have been scheduled to take place on weeks commencing 4th and 11th December 2023. A specific date will be confirmed to you once you have been successful at CV sift.
If you have already passed the Government Commercial Function Assessment & Development Centre, your interview will take place between 20th and 24th November 2023.
