The planner will be directly responsible for planning and managing their own fleet of Vehicles and Drivers. The planner will need to ensure daily coherent and achievable plans are produced whilst ensuring each asset is financially viable.
This is an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced environment - weekend hours will be involved, either part time weekends or on a rota basis.
The ideal candidate will have experience within a logistics/haulage focused role, within a busy time critical transport office and have the below skills and experience:
* Previous Transport Planning Experience General & Chilled Haulage
* Strong Geographical Knowledge
* Be up to date in drivers regulations CPC beneficial but not necessary
* Strong communication with the ability to speak to a variety of stakeholders including drivers and corporate clients
* Flexible approach to working is essential
* High levels of attention to detail
* Strong organisation and time management skills
* Proficient / advanced user of Excel Experience in transport software advantageous but not necessary as training will be provided
Duties will include but are not limited to;
* Ensuring drivers / resources deployed are on time and to plan (specific reference to fixed resource plan)
* Planning loads and routes as part of a team for what consists to over 100 vehicles
* Ensuring deliveries are made safely and within industry and company regulatory requirements
* Efficiently and effectively coordinate the delivery of products to the agreed plan, ensuring optimal fleet utilisation.
* Co-ordinating driver resources where necessary to support client requirements
* Liaising with drivers and other internal and external resources to deliver agreed SLA
* Communicating order status updates to customers, advising of potential hold ups and suggesting alternative solutions
* Working closely with other teams across the business
* Ensure compliance H&S requirements, driver compliance in line with tachograph regulations
* Co-ordinate and manage driver breakdowns, tyre call-outs and any other non-standard activity
* Support on-going maintenance plan as advised by Operations Supervisor /Manager
* Co-ordinate activity between maintenance partners to minimise effect on day-to-day operation
* Ensure all events are recorded and reported
