Ford & Stanley The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting for a Project Buyer who will be tasked with critical role of Buying for a market leader in maintenance and overhaul activities. With each product having unique requirements, buying requirements will be constantly evolving, and therefore the incumbent will be reactive, self-sufficient, and be able to benefit OTIF delivery.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a capable Project Buyer, able to drive operational Buying, playing a critical role in the refurbishment of various rolling stock fleet across the UK. Based in Wolverton, Milton Keynes, the position will grow to be highly influential in the success of the operation. You will become indispensable to the company, and directly impact their efficiency.

Location: Wolverton

Responsibilities:

Raise Request for Engineering works as required.
Order book and shortage report management for specific projects.
Maintaining good supplier relationships and attending meetings where performance issues arise
Update suppliers of drawing changes
Processing returns- NCRs
Processing overhaul material in a timely manner
Raising Transport requests
Ensuring material planning is aligned with actual Project programme dates.
Project mobilisation against the defined Project production plan.
Tender support as required.
Working within the defined project materials budget, whilst seeking to reduce total cost of supply through the application of best Purchasing practice and minimising risk to the company arising from these activities.
Report on Key Performance Indicators as defined by the Purchasing Manager
Achieving cost Reduction measures.
Attend Monthly project review meetings and project Kick off meetings as required.
Attend weekly 1-2-1 meetings with Purchasing Manager
Allocation of part numbers for project material demand
Dealing with urgent nonstock requirements as they arise
Resolving invoice queries
Raising Authorisation forms for orders over £10k on project demand outside of contract agreements

IT / MRP experience
