1981 (W) Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am 4.9 Turbo Special Edition NASCAR Pace Car Edition (Y85)

This Pontiac Trans Am Turbo Y85 Pace Car is one of only 2000 examples ever produced. The 1981 Daytona Pace Car Y85 model was built to lead that year's Daytona 500 (won by Richard Petty) and was powered by a turbocharged 301ci
V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, a limited slip differential and the WS6 Handling Package and is the only Trans Am to feature a Recaro interior & Black T-Top roof panels.

This example, as was every '81 Daytona Pace Car Trans Am Turbo built, is finished in Cameo White with a Gloss Black roof, Gloss Black nose trim and a bright Red & Black Recaro interior
Red Carpets, a turned alloy dashboard and special exterior graphics. These cars have extra details including an external dimmable 3 light boost gauge in the rear of the bonnet scoop, the "Screaming Chicken" hood decal, a blackout taillight panel and special finned, colour coded alloy wheels with Firebird centre caps and white lettered Firestone Indy 500 tyres. Additional features include, power windows, heated rear windscreen, air conditioning, cruise control and Firebird embroidery to the front door cards and rear seat centre.

This Trans Am was purchased new in April 1981 and was used until 1986 when it went into
storage for 26 years until its previous US owner purchased it in 2012. Showing only 44k miles, this is undoubtedly one of the most original examples available and probably the best for sale in the UK today. The exterior paintwork, having
been detailed, is superb, the interior is pristine and even the removable targa roof panels are immaculate, the car rides on a fully refurbished set of original alloys and is fitted with original Indy 500 tyres.

Registered in the UK in 2021 the car has only 1 UK keeper, the car comes with an MOT, a copy of its original invoice, its last US certificate of title and a clear Carfax report.
