The purpose of this role is to manage the Plant Maintenance department to ensure the maximum availability of the machines, processes, plant and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that all subcontractors that attend site have appropriate security clearance from the LHUK security department prior to commencement of any work/ visits.
Be fully responsible for the welfare and safety of all subcontractors & employees on site.
Notify and liaise with end users (production management staff across site) of any planned or reactive tasks which are to take place within their area of control.
Generate Safe Systems of Work & Risk Assessments/ Method Statements for all work being carried out on site. Ensure that all suitable HSQE processes are followed for duration of works on site.
Provide procurement support; Sourcing and supplying high quality products and services.
Provide cost reductions and savings wherever possible and report at monthly meetings.
Review & sign off contracts for the maintenance and servicing.
Directly liaise with term contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, technical specialists, suppliers and distributors to assist with problem solving activities.
Ensure that all work schedules and resource plans are reviewed regularly to maintain currency and accuracy, and manage any deviations from plan.
Identify and utilise the industry specialists available to research avenues of change to existing technologies and processes where that change might prove advantageous to the business in the development of new, or improvement of existing products and processes.
Review developments in new technologies and identify how they might be applied to gain commercial advantage.
Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with contractors to encourage a strong team ethos.
Establish and maintain regular communication activities ensuring a two-way flow of information with OEMs or suppliers, resolve any issues that are raised during the course of communications activities ensuring resolutions are fed back to the Plant Maintenance team which they were raised.
Manage variances to and departures from planned cost of work, identifying potential risk to stakeholders, and establishing risk mitigation plans.
Develop appropriate relationships with staff to encourage a strong team ethos.
Ensure that all calibrated/ serviced equipment is correctly maintained and calibrated/ serviced on or before its due date.
Identify to the business any plant and equipment that is nearing the end of life or are deemed obsolescent.
Monitor machine tool conditions by analysing data and make recommendations for major refurbishments or replacement of machine tools.
Actively look for, develop and convert opportunities into sales on site by liaising with the various stakeholders and engineering departments.
Person Specification Qualifications and/or Experience required:
Lean six sigma.
IOSH Managing Safely
People Management training or relevant experience.
Computer literate with experience using email, Microsoft office suite (particularly Excel).
Experience analysing and manipulating data.
Experience managing and communicating budget status to stakeholders.
Comfortable producing and leading presentations with stakeholders.
Person Specification Skills & Knowledge required:
Strong communication skills.
Planned and preventive maintenance experience
