Headquartered near Glasgow, ESS Holdings client is an independent manufacturer of III-V photonic devices who provide custom foundry services in InP, GaAs, GaN and GaSb on 2, 3 and 4 wafers, and have ongoing, active R+D and volume manufacturing contracts in various technology areas.
They also develop and manufacture custom and standard InP laser products for the FTTx (Fibre to the Home / Premises / Building) and PON (Passive Optical Network) markets.
They are now working with a number of massive multi-national blue chip businesses in the global data-comms arena, and will be massively expanding their Scottish production facility.
In order to meet a significant technology and production ramp they now need to recruit two Process Integration Engineers.
Reporting into the senior management team, the Process Integration Engineers will help to develop new and improved processes for the fabrication of III-V-semiconductor wafers for InP optical components.
Joining the Process Integration team, you will work in strong conjunction with the Device Development team and the Operations team to transform device prototypes and ideas to reliable, stable and manufacturable components.
The Integration team is responsible for development and introduction into production of new lasers, modulators, receivers, and photonic integrated circuits.
Key responsibilities include: Developing new process step modules to be integrated in the current workflow or for new products Verifying the process setup by process engineers for each process step or modules by analysing the data, in-line measurements, and through failure analysis. Ensuring that the process setup is compatible with all downstream process steps Collaborate with other engineering teams for achieving good yield and performance for their technology. Developing new technologies to level of maturity and stability able to be transferred to high volume manufacturing, Ongoing collaboration with Design and Technology teams on process performance against the PDK limits. Invent and generate new techniques and methods able to provide solutions to customer requirements and needs You are educated to degree calibre (MSC or PhD preferred) in a Scientific, Engineering or Materials discipline.
This will suit a range of candidates with Masters / PHD photonic or semiconductor focused academic and hands on practical process design/development experience, or experienced Process Development / Process Integration Engineers from volume semiconductor, optoelectronic or MEMs production backgrounds.
