CK Group are recruiting for a highly motivated Team Lead with proven track record in leading teams within a industrial laboratory setting, to join a Biotechnology company at their site based near Edinburgh. This role will be fully on-site and on a two fixed term contract.

The Role:
Being one of the first members in our clients new hub, your responsibilities will be to lead and grow a small team of scientists to generate data on cattle tick biology and develop new rearing methods that will enable large-scale production. Other duties will range widely from equipment procurement to lab set up and maintaining relationship with clients partner organisations.

Responsibilities:

Manage a small team of Scientists responsible for for testing tick rearing methods
Work closely with other departments providing clear communication regarding outcomes of processes and experiments
Maintaining strong collaborative relationships with clients partner organisation
Report data in meetings
Train new staff
Provide occasional weekend support as part of a rota within the team

Your Background:

MSc or PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. entomology, biology, biochemistry, bioengineering) coupled with industry experience (3 years+) - essential
Must have proven experience in leading teams with strong people management and communication skills
Previous experience with laboratory set-ups (desirable)
Experience with animal husbandry and/or colonies of invertebrates - desirable
Happy to travel to other sites in UK (depending on project needs)
Happy to work with cattle ticks biology
