Our client who work within the Architectural Metalwork industry are looking to recruit a Designer based at their offices in the Herts region.
Overall purpose:
To prepare General Assembly, Component and Installation drawings for the projects worked on, assisting in the preparation of O&M Manuals, Controlling and executing the issuing of drawings and documents both paper and electronically.
Starting with involvement at tender stage through design development, detail design, procurement, installation and hand over.

Health, Safety & Environment:
Help to maintain the companies zero level of accidents as measured by the ROSPA method by carrying out the design taking into account the requirements of the CDM Regulations
Ensure the minimization of our effects on the environment by ensuring that where ever possible elements are designed to make the best use of stock and standard sizes of material and fixings.
Design:
Clarify the brief with Project manager and Client prior to commencing design work for Architectural Metalwork project.
Ensure that agreement / approval is obtained from the client prior to issuing drawings for manufacture and or installation of Architectural Metalwork.
Operate the Last Planner techniques to ensure that the design is completed in a timely manner in line with the requirements of the Five week look ahead programme.
Carry out surveys or assist the Project manager with the survey.
Minimise site and manufacturing waste by ensuring detail design is accurate and carefully checked before issuing for manufacture or installation.
Time Control:
Ensure that target design times are maintained or reduced by monitoring the design time in line with the target bill of quantities and by working creatively utilising standard solutions wherever possible. Maintain time records on the weekly planner so that accurate time records can be issued to client as required.
Early Warnings:
Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of any drawings required for the issuing or Pricing of an Early Warning.
O&M Manuals
Prepare or assist in the preparation of the O&M Manual ensuring that the draft O&M Manuals are completed by a third of the way through the contract period and that the Final draft is issued by the due date as advised by the Project manager.
Project Close Out:
Ensure that the project documentation is fully completed and that all As Built drawings are completed to accompany the O&M Manual..
Salaries are dependent upon level of relevant experience. In the region of £30-55k
