Working as an Advanced Social Worker you will work closely with your Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership and supervision to colleagues within your team, supporting your manager with the day-to-day operations of your team and contributing to an effective and efficient service to children and families.
This is a hands-on role, where you have a smaller caseload, working with children and families with a complexity of needs (including undertaking in-depth assessments) and where, through supervision and mentoring, you will share your knowledge and experience with colleagues and students to continually improve practice standards within your team.
You will champion high standards of professional social work practice, by encouraging and supporting opportunities for reflection and learning and delivering on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring to unqualified/alternatively qualified staff, students and less experienced social workers.
About you
Advanced Social Workers provide a lead social work role within each team, supporting the development of good evidence-based practice. With substantial post-qualifying experience and the ability to demonstrate that you're working at the Experienced Social Worker level, you will:
* Demonstrate the ability to work with families with complex needs within a multi-agency environment
* Be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of social work mentoring, coaching and training professional colleagues
* Have evidence of substantial post-qualifying training and development
* Be able to lead improvement and challenge the quality of social care practice in a constructive manner
An agreed weekly agency accommodation / commuter travel allowance of up to £150 per week is offered for those living 50 miles or more from their work base

Your main responsibilities include:
* Hold and effectively manage a complex and varied caseload with appropriate supervision, guidance, and support, reflecting the function of the team and the Vulnerable People Service in accordance with policy, procedures, guidance and legislation.
* Undertake work within legislative frameworks including the preparation of written statements and representations to the judiciary at Court hearings.
* You will be accountable for complex decision making in relation to caseloads ensuring professional judgement, service user involvement, needs led assessment, critical reflection, and analysis to inform this.
* You will identify and assess levels of risk and need (within statutory frameworks) in often complex situations. Undertake safeguarding investigations and deliver protective and/or supportive services for individuals at risk and maintain up to date assessments, care plans and reviews.
* You will be preparing statements of need/care and support plans, in consultation with other agencies as appropriate, that reflect the wishes of the individual and lead to the commissioning of personalised packages of care.
* You will undertake direct work with adults and their families in line with care plans.
* You will work co-operatively with both internal and external colleagues across multi - agency boundaries.
Essential requirements:
* Social Work England registration
* Eligible to work in the UK
* 2 years+ post-qualified experience
* Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
