Career Teachers are looking for a number of Cover Teacher to work at secondary schools and academies across the Manchester area on an ad-hoc, day to day basis.

These positions are to cover absences within the departments, with all work already set. Your job is to deliver the pre-set work to the pupils and ensure that they are getting the required work completed.

These roles would suit someone who has previous experience working as a cover supervisor or teaching assistant within a secondary setting or someone who has worked with secondary age pupils within a social setting such as a sports club, drama club or art club.

However, more importantly you must have the right attitude. The schools are looking for passionate, engaging individuals who can quickly interact and build rapport with their students. Some pupils may present challenging behaviour so strong behaviour management strategies are also a must!

Key requirements:

At least 3 months experience working with secondary age pupils
Good behaviour management
Passionate and enthusiastic
Engaging and able to build rapport
Able to deliver pre-set work to students in both KS3 & KS4
Positive, can-do attitude
Flexible on location and school within the Manchester area
Enhanced DBS certificate
Qualified Teaching Status
Experience Teaching and Covering LessonsMany of these bookings arrive with short notice, so you will need to be ready and able to get to the school for the start of the day. Own transport is desirable but not essential due to the excellent public transport network in place across Manchester.
