Our client is seeking a Purchasing Officer in Birstall, West Yorkshire. We are looking for someone with an engineering background with an understanding of mechanical drawings.

This role is working 7:00am-4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am-3:00pm on Friday.

Salary is dependent on experience (£28,000 - £38,000 per year)

The role:

* Support the Head of purchasing for Machined Components

* Ensuring timely delivery of materials and services to site in accordance with agreed constraints and lead times.

* You will maintain clear communication lines between suppliers and the business

* Attending cross-functional meetings to provide updates against project targets.

* Manage KPIs, action trackers/plans, and escalate supplier performance

* Manage all commercial aspects of sourcing, including spend analysis, tendering

* Source and evaluate new products to promote cost savings and efficiencies.

* Negotiate and maintain supplier framework agreements.

* Conduct supplier performance reviews to maintain quality, cost, and delivery performance levels.

* Drive and implement Supplier Development programs for preferred suppliers within the category.

Required:

* Engineering/Technical manufacturing background

* Supply chain experience within engineering sector.

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

* Essential knowledge of machining/machine parts and materials.

* HNC in engineering is desirable.

* High level of organisation skills
